What is LED – Light Emitting Diode is a type of diode that can emit light. They are widely used in industrial applications and especially in consumer electronics. Examples of consumer electronics applications are cell phone screens, LED panels used for advertising purposes, LED lighting used for lighting purposes.
What is a LED simple definition?
An LED (Light Emitting Diode) is simply a diode that can emit light due to the current flowing through it.
Symbol of LED
Since LEDs are a type of diode, their basic symbol is very similar to a diode. Light is symbolized by arrows sticking out from the diode symbol to show that it can emit light.
What is the +,- in LED?
LEDs usually have two terminals. One of these terminals is indicated by + and one is indicated by -. The terminal indicated with + is the cathode and the terminal indicated with – is the anode.
How does an LED work?
LEDs basically work just like a light bulb. However, LEDs have much higher efficiency than light bulbs.
What is Wavelength and Color (LED)
LEDs can be produced with different types of materials and processes. LEDs generate light at different wavelengths depending on the materials and processes used. Different wavelengths allow us to obtain different colors.
What is the terminology of LED?
LED Forward Voltage VF[V]: LEDs emit light when current flows through them. LEDs are a specialized type of diodes. Therefore, for LEDs to emit light, current must flow through them. In order for current to flow through diodes, a certain voltage level must occur on them. This voltage level is called Forward Voltage. The voltage that must occur on the LEDs in order for them to emit light is called LED Forward Voltage.
Other Type of LEDs
Cycling LEDs
Cycling LEDs contain small circuits inside and provide a smart structure thanks to these circuits. Usually these types of leds are RGB leds. So they contain three basic colors (Red, Green, Blue). They also create intermediate colors using these three basic colors.
RGB Leds
RGB leds consist of three different colors and have a terminal for each color. All colors can be obtained by using these terminals separately.
Power Leds
Power LEDs are high power LEDs. They emit much more light by spending a lot more energy than normal LEDs. Accordingly, they use a lot of heat and this is the main problem.
